Creating visibility where necessary
Durham Flooring carried out a makeover to a local school, Polam Hall in Darlington for their school auditorium.
The theatre seating fixtures were removed and a complete strip out of the existing flooring and stair edges was undertaken.
A new robust commercial velour carpet popular with schools and universities was fitted and directly adhered to the substrate which included all the treads and risers and cutting round the base of the seating fixtures, creating a complete floor covered finish.
Polam Hall School was keen to ensure a level of visibility to the edge of the four sets of steps within the auditorium. This was key as a lot of the school performances require the audience area to be in low light/darkness.
With a limited budget illuminated LED nosings were not an option, Quantum advised their ECOGLOW stair edge nosings which have an eco-glow photoluminescent strip within the edge of the nosing.
The project was a success and allowed the client to achieve the effect required creating a safer transition environment within the auditorium.
